Frequently Asked Questions

Telehealth and Technology Questions

  • I live outside of Illinois. Can you see me?

    • Yes, I can, depending on where you live! I am a member of PsyPact (APIT Number: 17605; APIT Issue Date: 02/09/2024). This means I can see families via telehealth in these states: Michigan, Washington, Indiana, Texas, Missouri, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Connecticut, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming

    • I only do private pay/ out of network if you reside outside of Illinois

  • How does telehealth work for children and teens? Is it effective? How would it work for me, as a parent?

    • I have had a lot of success using telehealth therapy for children, teens, and parents due to making appropriate adaptations based on the child’s age or level of development. For children who are 6 years old and younger, I focus most on working with their parents via telehealth which still creates changes for these children. However, there are some children of all ages that telehealth may not be the best fit due to various factors. During our 15 minute consultation and during our first few visits, I will continue to keep track of if your child or you would benefit from in person therapy instead with another provider.

  • Can we do the telehealth visit in a moving car if my child is not driving?

    • No. For safety reasons, I require that families cannot be driving during the telehealth visits. If you and your child are in transit when it is time for a visit, you can pull over and park in a safe area for the visit, delay the visit until you arrive at home, or reschedule.

Other Session Questions

  • My child is a teenager. Do I still need to be involved in the sessions?

    • Parents attending sessions changes depending on the child’s age, stage of development, and problems your child and you want to address in therapy. The younger the child is, the more parents attend the therapy sessions. For teenagers, parents may attend sessions for a short period of time or every other session briefly just to check in about how the teen is doing at home, any medical concerns, or family stressors. However, if part of what you and teenager want to work on includes parent-child communication, you will be attending more sessions with your teenager

  • Do you do sessions at schools or speak with my child’s medical providers? Is that covered by insurance?

    • Yes I do.

Insurances does not typically cover these meetings. I will do three contacts with a child’s medical providers, psychiatrists, or rehabilitation therapists (speech language therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists) for free. I will also speak to the school for once for free. I want to make sure I have a full picture of your child to be the effective with my help.

Additional meetings and contacts are an extra cost, which I discuss during the first appointment.

  • Do you do in-person sessions?

    • Yes, I do in Chicago, IL on Mondays evenings. I can take insurance or private pay/out-of-network for IL residents for these services.

    • What about in-home sessions?

      • Yes, I do if you are within a certain distance within the Chicagoland area in IL. These would only be via private pay. Contact me for more information.
